Pickles, Pickles and More Pickles

Preparing for the long dark winter months pickling fresh vegetables to get us through until the warm spring when fresh vegetables will be available again. Nowadays I would not have a clue as what to do. However, as a child I use to help my grandfather plait onions and store potatoes for the winter . While my grandmother pickled beetroots and made tomato and sultana chutney.

Now that I have finally removed all the sticky scenic water from my fingers and scrubbed most of the dye off I can list a photo of what I have been upto for the last couple of days. Oh yes at this point I will mention that I have had a red finger for two days. Thankfully no-one commented. I am not sure whether pickling 12th scale or for real is any less messy.

  1. Beautiful! You use Scenic Water rather than two-part epoxy resin? I have used Scenic Water for a koi pond I am slowly working on but have to pour a layer and then let it set for weeks on end. I haven't tried the two-part epoxy yet but want to experiment with that. These are lovely!

  2. I prefer scenic water if the item is covered as I hate the dust it seems to attract. I have used the 2 part resin but I don't know what to colour it with.

  3. I love these! I am making foods to fill a pantry right now, and I also am planning on a roombox Halloween scene--little canning jars are so perfect for that!
