The blackberries have started early here in London UK. I was out collecting them along the New River Canal at the weekend. I have one question to ask why do the largest sweetest blackberries grow next to stinging nettles? Thank goodness for doc leaves. After returning home with our bounty Julian my long suffering partner, made a delicious Blackberry and Apple Crumble. Which spurred me into making the above.

I got back from a wonderful holiday in Crete recently, where we visited archeological sites, snorkeled, ate dinner on the seafront and relaxed in the sun's soporific rays.

This week while doing a good deed, tidying my lazy son's bedroom (hes 19 years old), I managed to break my glasses. I was so hot I pulled off my sweater in a rush and a lens snapped. Being left with only an old pair of less than flattering glasses I quickly mailed off the broken glasses to be repaired. Well, to my horror I have just received an email saying the company I sent the broken glasses to has no record of them or of ever stocking those frames. In my hurry to return them I posted them to the wrong company. I feel such a fool!
What with dropping my personal D.A.B. radio in the bucket of water last week, while doing some Spring cleaning for my Mum. I dread to think what else I may break in my quest to be helpful.

Idiot that I am- I managed to superglue my right thumb and index finger together while making my current offering of minis. Sat there wondering what to do for a few seconds then cut them apart with the scalpel. Alls well that ends well LOL.

My Mother does not have a partner so yesterday she bought herself a large box of chocolates and thoroughly enjoyed the lot. As for myself I will be eating a generous helping of Strawberry Gateau, my favourite cake.

Last week my son had the first sitting for his first tattoo. I was a little surprised it was so big, but its well done and as long as he doesn't get addicted to tattoos all will be good.

I have been very busy this month with commissions and have not had enough time to experiment with new techniques, but here are a few things I managed to put together.

Last night I was very lucky indeed, I was chauffeured to dinner at the Wolseley Hotel just next door to The Ritz, Piccadilly, London and then onto the Royal Albert Hall to see Totem, the new Cirque De Soleil show. I had a fabulous evening. Suffice to say I didn't get to bed until 12.30am which is well past my normal bedtime, so sad bunny that I am I was forced to have a little nap this afternoon.
After all the excitement of last night I was able to settle down and get on with some of my commissions. Here is a sample of some of my newly completed works

So far this month I have had two colds which I have had to fight with steaming hot mugs of lemon, garlic, ginger and honey. Oh yes and of course aspirin and paracetamol. I hope you are all well and if not I recommend the above although the garlic will leave you a little unpopular with friends and family.
On the up side of being confined to the house I have been able to make lots of minis without the distraction of the gym (namely the guilt for not being there).

What with 2010 truly over its time to get ready for a miniature Valentine's Day. I have been busy making Chocolates and Valentine Chocolate Boxes.
I have also been experimenting with a new techique which I call filigree icing as in the two tier celebration cake above.

What a last couple of days I have had first I cut my thumb with a cutting blade (I suppose the clue is in the name) and then the internet goes down. Well not only the internet, the phone and the television. I felt completely lost. So I carried on "Keep Calm and Carry On". Making minis was almost impossible with a great big plaster on my thumb - right on the tip. I had to bathe and wash up with an awful rubber glove on. Note that neither my lazy son or partner volunteered to do the dishes. It was completely my fault "Never cut towards you when using a blade" guess what I did. Good news after two days no more plaster, but still sore. Now when I use the blade I am a little more careful LOL.
Thank goodness the internet was only down for about two hours, so I was able to upload some of the items I had been working on and here they are.

Cannot upload pictures this is about the fifth time I have tried to load the above pictures I hope it works this time.

At the weekend I had a bit of a stomach bug which left me feeling too weak to go swimming. So I had to stay indoors resting and making minis. See there is always a silver lining LOL. Will probably go swimming tomorrow as I really miss the steam room. Its my little treat after swimming and in the Winter its the only place where I can say I am truly warm!

Here's what I have been upto, although I had a little disaster with a Charlotte Cake I flattened the piped whipped cream. I was so disappointed. Well I have scrapped out all the cream and will start again tomorrow.

My luck seems to have run out! what with breaking my glasses, now my kettle has finally given up the ghost. So I am temporarily reduced to boiling a saucepan of water for a much needed cuppa tea. I know it probably doesn't take more than a 5 minutes but we are so used to the superfast electric kettle that it seems ages. Then I spill at least 1/3 of the water trying to pour it into my cup. My new glasses have arrived and everything looks too bright and I feel a little dizzy. I prefer the old ones I was wearing.

But all said and done I am still working and one must count one's blessings. Here's a sample of what I have been upto.

The other day I was putting on my glasses when I noticed they were bent again, so as usual I decided to bend them back into shape. Disaster they snapped in half, after a moment of unbelief I realized I had better find an old pair of glasses fast. At first I could only find a pair that I would not be seen dead in. Its funny how quickly we go off certain looks eg tortoise shell rimmed circular specs. Then luckily I found my last pair. Alls well I am waiting for my new glasses to arrive. Well I say alls well I need varifocals, but have decided on two pairs of specs one for near work and one for distances. I must get myself a pair of reading glasses. I am walking around with everything at arms length and I still cannot read it probably.

It's Saturday morning and the TV remote control is missing. What are we going to do? Yes we can turn all 700+ channels manually with a finger on the button as we flip through each one, but that would take time. LOL I suppose it will turn up somewhere.

Now that Halloween is almost upon us it is time for me to start my Christmas minis. Oh how I love all the preparation for Christmas. Here is my first Christmas mini of the season and a few pickles.

I have been working really hard mini making over the last couple of days and getting quite tired. Yesterday I went to take some miniatures out of the oven as they had been in for 20 minutes. I opened the oven and it was empty. What! I thought surely no one could have stolen my minis. I looked up and they were still sitting on the worktop. Earlier I had checked the temperature of the oven and must have forgotten to put them in. LOL
That's when I knew it was time to stop for the day. This is what I have been working on.

My new makins ultimate clay machine arrived today I ordered it at the end of August but it was on order. I am so pleased the clay comes out feeling and looking like a strip of silk. I was so fed up with my last pasta machine as the clay kept sticking to the rollers but now I'm in clay heaven.

While I was in Hong Kong I had a chest infection. I do not know whether its possible to pass our virus's onto cats but my little cat has been sneezing for a couple of days and off her food. So I am being extra kind to her wrapping her up in blankets etc

I have told myself definitely no more Halloween items now I will start on Christmas bits my next favorite time of the year. Here's a sample of what I have been upto.

A Miniaturist in Hong Kong

Here I am in this humid, crowded and hot metropolis. I should have left last night but the flight was over booked, so here I am ready to try again this evening for a flight home. When I first arrived here, to say I was overwhelmed by the sheer size and of this neon skyscraping city would have been a diffinite understatement. I have taken a ferry across the harbour, trawlled the markets for bargains and even been to "Venice". We took a ferry to Macau, which rivals Las Vegas as the capital for Casino World. Where we stayed at The Venetian a mirror image of its sister hotel in Las Vegas. I even had some time to visit a dolls house shop.
We are staying at The Salisbury YMCA and I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the accommodation. If like me you associate the YMCA with rickety old bunkbeds and lots of washing your own pots and laundry. Checkout your local YMCA. This one overlooks the harbour, is decorated to a high standard with an excellent restaurant and is very affordable in comparisan to other similar hotels in the vicinity. Oh yes it also has a swimming pool.
Hopefully I will be back in London, UK Monday 20th September. I don't think I could stand leaving the airport at 01.00 to look for a hotel again tonight. Wish me luck with my flight.

Halloween Madness

I just cannot stop myself making Halloween goodies. I love the colours and the sheer fantasy. Yet in reality, if I ever saw a ghost and was aware of it I would probably be so scared I would faint. Here's my latest creation. A 3 tier cake featuring a pumpkin as the bottom tier, a haunted castle night scene with orange icing oozing down as the middle tier and a mummy's face on the top with black oozing icing leading to three skulls perched precariously at the base.

My week so far has not been too good my pasta machine has broken again. the clay just keeps circling its gets stuck to the rollers. I am sure its less than a year old but I cannot bring myself to send it back to the manufacturer as I have not exactly been rolling pasta with it LOL. I think they would find traces of clay and get suspicious. Well I have invested in a Makins clay rolling machine from The Craftmill based in the UK. The only place I could find selling them in the UK. So I am patiently awaiting its arrival.

Yesterday, I just could not find the black filigree cake stand I had made; I even tidied up my work bench thinking it may be under all the clutter. I checked the floor but nothing. It just seemed to have disappeared into thin air so, I decided to make a few more. When I returned half an hour later there was the original cake stand not more than 2 inches from the new ones. I gasped "How can that be?"
It would seem that the spooky Halloween spirits are already playing their little tricks! Or maybe it was the fairies!

Today I went swimming after a break of nearly 3 weeks (I hurt my neck and shoulder previously) and now I am feeling a little tired. Too tired infact to start making minis. In actual truth I feel like a little lie down and I would if it wasn't already 4.30pm. I originally hurt my neck and shoulder doing Yoga and swimming. Not together I hasten to add. So what am I to do exercise 3 times a week as recommended to stay healthy and sleep my afternoons away or get mini making and become unhealthy LOL.

I have added a Tutorial section to my website www.dollhousekitchen.com and I will be updating it frequently. Please have a look. I have also been making more chocolate cakes. Oh how I fancy a slice of chocolate cake and a nice cuppa tea at the moment. Instead of a dry old rice cake. (Thats all I have in the cupboard).

As the title suggests I am away from the clay for a couple of days. I return Friday 20th August and will be adding new items to my website www.dollhousekitchen.com on my return. From now on this will be my primary selling site. Eventually I hope to stop listing on Etsy or possibly just use it for my miniature food jewellery items.

I have been out and about visiting craft shops looking for bits and pieces to use in mini making. My poor father just leaves me there as he knows I will be hours and then he collects me when I ring him. The first time I took so long he came looking for me thinking I had got lost or lost his number.

My son has gone on Holiday with his Granny and two of his cousins to Lanzarote. I was hoping he would email me to let me know what he was up to. His Dad just laughed saying hes on the beach enjoying himself the last thing on his mind is emailing his Mum. I suppose he is right.

What have I been upto? Well to tell the truth, just about anything and everything to avoid getting down to some serious mini making. Why? Probably because subconsciously I believe I am on holiday or that sometimes I have the concentration span of a fruitfly. I have been flitting from one idea to another without much thought about what I am doing. Even talking to my neighbours chickens.

Thankfully I have managed to make a couple of bits and here they are.

August Already

I cannot believe we have already slipped into August. I am so behind with miniature making ah but, its only the 4th so not so bad afterall. I have been down to Canterbury for a couple of days where I did a 17 mile (27km) cycle ride along the route called The Crab & Winkle Way. It followed the old train line between Canterbury and Whitstable. I had to buy a new cycle seat with extra gel for comfort apparently, especially good for Ladies with a large bottom. Not sure whether I qualify there! Well after that I was good for nothing else except dare I say a little afternoon snooze.

The next day we did a bit of site seeing visiting Museums and various other attractions. It would have been great to have had another day but the pressures of work always seem to cloud the horizon.

Gentle Cycle Ride by the Canal

Here in the UK the weather has been gorgeous for weeks now so today my husband and I decided to go for a cycle ride along the canal from Tottenham Marshes to Canning Town. Thats about 12 miles (19KM) there and back. We had been cycling for about 15mins when my husband asked when were we going to start. I was a little confused I thought we had started. I was enjoying myself looking at the canal house boats and the ducks. Basically he wanted me to up my speed, some men never satisfied LOL. I told him to go ahead and I would amble slowly, no not slowly just not at the speed of a bullet. This worked very well until I realized that he had both my asthma pump, the money and the water. Well one always has to stop for a little light refreshment along the way. Actually it worked out really well as he waited for me at the bridges and once I had my inhaler I was as happy as a lark.
We had a really enjoyable 2 hours unfortunately I am too tired now to do any miniature work. Here's what I have been upto this week.

What a Carry On!

As much as I love the warm weather, together with the pollution here in London the hot weather has worsened my asthma. So I had to change my medication. A a result for the last 2 weeks I have been too shaky to create much dollhouse miniature food as like a fool I was taking double the amount of my new asthma medication that I should have been taking. I read the instructions once for my new inhaler, misinterprepted them and then promptly threw them away. It was only when the inhaler ran out that I realized my mistake. It should have lasted me a month not 15 days. Well I can tell you I felt like a real idiot and slightly embarrassed about asking for a repeat prescription so soon. Luckily everything is fine now and I can get back to mini making although I am easily distracted by a good book and all that sunshine.

No pasta machine yet I ordered it a week ago and I have been told its on its way. Yesterday I tried to roll some clay with a jam jar. I just gave up I don't know how I ever managed without my pasta machine. I haven't made anything for over a week. But I managed to put the above together out of pieces I had already made.
To top it all I have a throat infection so I am going to wrap up warm and watch Tv until my wonderful new pasta machine arrives.

My pasta machine has just ground to a halt. After I tried to fix it, remember the knocking noise well it was back. So I dismantled it and oiled it and after an hour of trapping my fingers, fiddling with tiny nuts and the odd expletive it was back together again. This time it would no longer turn. I have just ordered one from Ebay. But being me I didn't check the postage details. Apparently they guarantee shipping within 10 working days doh!

Then to add to my woes my little cat has a skin infection and I have to bathe her paw twice a day and apply cream. Lets just say shes not keen. Although after the 3rd time I think she has resigned herself to the precedure. She doesn't growl and hiss so much now.

On a more positive note I finally finished my Alice in Wonderland themed cakes and here they are.

Kensington Dollshouse Festival Class

On Thursday I attended a class at the Kensington Dollhouse Festival "To Sculpt a Fairy" with Daniela Kiefhaber. I had an amazing time, Daniela is a wonderful and talented artisan and teacher. Here is a picture of the little baby fairy I managed to create. I very much doubt I will be able to create another without her expertise.

Easily Distracted

I should be working on my miniature creations but, my big fat cat is snoring on the couch and I just could not resist wrapping her in my scarf and hat. As you can see she was not amused. Not only did I wake her but then sat and laughed. Well as I said I am easily distracted. Funnily enough the cat has departed, I can't imagine why!

My pasta machine has been making a funny noise now for awhile but, otherwise working OK. So the other day I decided to take it apart and "fix" it. Well after about an hour and a few expletives later it was back together. Well not completely I couldn't work out where two pieces went. But I thought it would be OK. It was not! Another 1/2 hour of huffing and puffing and finally it was back together again. I was filthy, cross and feed up and it still made that funny noise. I seriously wish I had left well alone.
Once it was back together I was able to continue with making the above.

Finally I have Found Some Time For Minis

Yesterday and today I was finally able to find some time for making minis. The washing is all done and yes my son's sheets are changed. He even stripped the bed himself and put the clean ones on. Also my partner has updated my old computer with a great fast new one. But I had to laugh when I opened the washing machine and found two t-shirts and a pair of pants. According to my partner that was a wash, he didn't want to overload the machine. So everything is back to normal!

Home Again Hooray, Hooray

Touched down at Gatwick UK yesterday at 12.30am exhausted but so glad to be home only 7 days late. The house is in chaos and would you believe it afterI had only managed to snatch 5 hours sleep my 18 year old son asked me if it were posssible, could I change his sheets today? Lets just say it is not one of my priorities LOL!
Hopefully I will have this place straight and be able to start making my beloved minis soon. Although, first I must get through the pile of dirty laundry (son and partner no laundry done for 2 weeks), shop as we are out of all basics and tidy up the garden, the grass is about a foot high and thank goodness, I arrived home not a drop of water given to my parched little plants.
I have obviously gone very wrong somewhere along the line. I should have returned to a spotless sanctuary of cleaniless and efficiency.
I should be so lucky!

Extended Holiday

Due to the Icelandic volcano eruption I have been stranded on the island of Lanzarote. I was due home 15.04.10. Now I am due to fly home Thursday 22nd April. However if there are further complications I could be here for longer. I know this sounds ideal but I am missing my son and partner and believe it or not mini making. My little nephew informed me excitedly that we could be here for a month.
I am one of the lucky ones at least I am not having to check daily with my tour operator whether or not I am flying today. I booked independently so I just had to re schedule my flight. Hope to be back in the UK making minis Friday 23rd April. I am off now to read.

Caveman and Technology Strikes Again

After I upgraded by blog I could not work out how to upload new pictures so, I have reverted to the old format of blog. Afterall I had not worked out how to use any of the new settings.

Today I surpassed myself I decided to sharpen my dress making scissors as I was altering a dress for my holiday. Don't ask me what happened I just managed to completely blunt the scissors with the new knife sharpening gadget I had bought. Not to be out witted I then tried to sharpen the said scissors with a knife that I had already sharpened- not one of my good ideas. I now have a deep cut on my thumb and blunt scissors. At least I still managed to alter my dress.

On Tuesday I will have to take the blunt scissors to the professional sharpeners and see if they can work their magic. Before the tradegy I made the above.

For all of you that celebrate Easter - Happy Easter - but do not eat too many eggs I had to retire early to bed on Friday feeling a little unwell after over indulging.

I have been working away like a little demented beaver, to produce tiny Easter delights and I must say enjoying myself. I had decided to give myself a day off today but, instead I think I will experiment with cold porcelain. I am also disappointed as I have been waiting on an order of mini supplies that was due in mid March and it has still not arrived. I suppose the moral of the story is always order double what you think you will need.

After Easter I am off on a much needed little holiday to Lanzarote with wait for it...... my Mum, its not very rock 'n' roll but its a break. My son is revising for exams and his Dad is always working so a girls got to grab what she can. Oh I hope my Mum does not read this lol.

Oh dear the on going saga with my website. Originally it was supposed to be launched Christmas 2009 but with one problem after another it still remains but a dream. Well, last week while trying to test it yet again. I could not log on only to be told the site had been hacked. Thank goodness it was backed up so, its up there again in cyber space. Now once the company have sorted out the postal costs it should be ready to run.

I have been really busy this week being me I did not realise that Easter was just around the corner. I thought I had ages but as you know it is next weekend. So here is a sample of what I have been creating.

Squirrel Mayhem

My mother has a squirrel living in a hole left after an old flue was removed from the bathroom. The animal cannot get into the roof and is doing no harm. But Mum being Mum wanted rid of it and routinely chased it with a garden broom. Luckily to say she never managed to catch it. Well over Winter it hibernated and all was quiet on both the squirrel and Mum front. But as Spring sprung Mum wanted the hole blocked up and the squirrel evicted. So I arranged for a friend to block the hole for her. Well you would not believe the drama, it seems the squirrel is female and has had young. She went berserk when she returned to find the hole blocked and spent the night clawing away at the piece of wood covering the hole. Luckily as we thought a pigeon may be in there we had left a breathing hole and hoped to release the animal the next day as it just would not come out. Today we removed the wood so that mother and babies were reunited. After her ordeal the squirrel will probably move her babies to a safer place. Its a shame because they weren't harming anything or anyone being there. Hopefully alls well that ends well. I would have left them be and gloried in the knowledge that I had nature living on my doorstep.

Making Hot Cross Buns

Yesterday did not bode well when the first thing I managed to do was stick my finger to a cocktail stick with superglue. I do not know why but every tube of super glue I have ever had clogs up and forces me to put holes in it.

Oh well the day got better I received two Sunshine Awards: one from NJD Miniatures and the other from Mags-nificent Miniatures, thank you very much. However all the blogs I follow have already received a Sunshine Award so I am not sure whether to give them another award or not!

I Thought Yoga was Meant To Be Easy

I started doing Yoga classes at my local gym and now I can hardly move let alone sculpt. I thought yeah I'll try this it looks easy and theres not much running about. How wrong could I be?

First some of the poses were so difficult to get into and maintain I did't think I would be able to get out of the them, secondly my body isn't as supple as it was 20 years ago (but of course I had no ideal) and thirdly I was so exhausted afterwards it was all I could do to walk home. Ah yeah, I was only doing Everyday Yoga "a class especially good for those experiencing Yoga for the first time".All that said I am enjoying the torment and will be attending weekly classes LOL.

Its not easy working with the little people firstly, they are convinced I want to steal their gold and secondly they keep disappearing.

Fright Of My Life

Last week I turned the oven on and there was a loud bang and a flash of light. My immediate thought was oh no how will I bake my minis? Not oh dear how will I cook the evening meal. I spent the next 20 mins changing fuses and checking plugs to no avail. Then I realized the clock was not working and checked the central fuse box. One of the fuses had shut down when the light bulb in the oven had blown. I was so.......... relieved back to business.

Here are a couple of things I put together. The first is called "Box of Winter Veg" it contains parsnips, turnips, carrots, a cauliflower and potatoes.

The second is a selection of cakes on a hand painted plate.

Cat Burglar on the Prowl

After chatting to my neighbour the mystery of how my lazy cat is getting so fat has been solved. The sneaky devil has been going through my neighbours catflap and eating all my neighbours cat's food as wellas eating her own dinner. I felt so embarrassed. I hoping that soon she will be too heavy to get over the fence. Here's a picture of the beast.

Today I made a Tower of Truffles the only chocolates I am allowed after I managed to gain 1kg this month while, trying to lose the weight I put on over Christmas. It would seem that both owner and cat could be described as greedy LOL.

I have spent so long making mini Valentine Chocolates that I am really looking forward to receiving a box of real luxury truffles on the 14th February. But then I thought my partner will not think to buy them so I had to tell him. I know it ruins the romance but it was either specifically request them or buy them myself. Even now I am not sure whether he will remember maybe I should just buy him a box and then we can share them.

What a couple of days I have had trying to make Victorian Valentine chocolate boxes. I had so much superglue stuck to my fingers at one point, they started to crack and become sore. ( How we suffer for our art LOL). I decided to make two types: one that opens to reveal chocolates and the other just for display, it does not open or contain chocolates.

Yesterday I dropped my little drawer of 1/12th scale chocolates. I was down on my hands and knees trying to rescue them from between the floorboards. With the extra light I had a shock, I saw just how dirty my rug was. Oh well never mind. I am not sure whether I found all the chocs but I got most of them.

Today I have been making bits and pieces for Valentine's Day. I have not photographed my chocolate boxes yet but heres what I have been upto.

Everything I touched turned out wrong ( miniature that is). Today I managed to drop an unbaked item onto the bottom of the oven ruining it before it was even finished. The fluff monster jumped all over my items leaving a trail of mainly red dust (my new dressing gown). So all in all, creatively I have not had a good day. Oh yes I am also feeling very cross and irritable. LOL Sometimes I just have days where I should not have touched any clay for my own piece of mind.

But on a brighter note this is what I have been up to previously.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

I have been walking in the snow at Alexandra Palace (London UK). The frozen lake and snow laden trees were simply breathe taking. I strolled along thinking myself to be in Narnia (Fantasy land from "The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe"). It was so quiet and so very still. That was yesterday when the snow was fresh. Today it has turned to ice in places and has become very slippery so, I am not enjoying it as much. It has made me think about all the people who live in colder climates and have to deal with this weather every Winter. How do you cope?

While I have been inside I have made some Valentine items and some good old fish and chips.

I hope you all had a peaceful and joyous Christmas or holiday. I am sitting here at my computer, at least one dress size bigger, contemplating how I am going to lose my extra cushioning. The weather is dull and wet so I tried to watch one of my Christmas DVDs but it wouldn't work as I don't know what I have done to the DVD player, I must have pressed every button on the remote control, I thought it best to turn the player off and pretend I have not touched it.LOL

I am feeling a triffle odd after the last of the Christmas ham today for breakfast. I should have done the cat test. I offer the ham to the cat and if she turns her nose up I know its off and if she eats it I know the rest is fine.

Mini Holiday

I am so excited I am going to a Christmas party 12th December I have bought a strapless little red number that means I am unable to eat anything - real or mini- until the 13th. I have not been to a Christmas party for years so I have alot of catching up to do.

Today I decided to put my tree up. First we had to go and buy it which is always the hardest part, trying to find a tree that is not too big. For many years we have had to cut bits of the trees off as they have been so bushy we couldn't see the tv properly. In the shop the trees look perfect its only when you get them home and remove the netting you realize you have a monster. This year we have the perfect tree its only taken us twenty odd years.
The cat was very interested in the tree she came into the lounge, sniffed it, played with a few baubles and watched me decorate it as though at any minute she was expecting something unusual to happen. Well I managed to break the customary one bauble while decoratoring it however, this year I surpassed myself I managed to knock the fairy off the top as well. She crashed to the floor and broke her head - not to worry all mended with superglue.

Those Darn Pesky Cats

Don't get me wrong I love cats and I don't really mind that neighbours' cats come through our magnetic cat flat ( we all seem to have bought the same cat flap) and eat our cat's food but, when they mark the kitchen with their spray or pee - enough is enough. For the last three nights I have awoken to the vile smell so, last night I locked the cat flap so the culprit could get in but not out. This morning I found a very nervous black cat in my utility room I opened the back door and he scarpered. I don't think we will be seeing him for a while. The worst case was a stray was so bold he use to wander the house and onec sprayed in our bedroom while my partner was reading on the bed.

Now onto a fresher note here's what I have been upto: a jar of meringues, a jar of Champagne Chocolate truffles and two Charlotte cakes.

Busy Busy Busy Busy

The Kensington dollhouse festival I was so excited I only just remembered my ticket as I was going through my front door. Only to find on arriving I had forgotten my list of what to buy. I was a little disappointed as I could not get all the silk ribbon I needed and I should have bought that darling little honey pot with honey in it. Instead of being mean and saying I can make that I don't need to buy it.

Well as Christmas approaches fast I am like an insane dog chasing its tail. I am working from 7.00am until 4.00pm with a lunch break and the odd toilet visit. Yet I feel I am achieving very little. It feels like I am on the Merry-g0-round of madness. Having said all that I am pleased with my creations I just did not realize how much time is taken up photograghing work, putting up on line etc.

Kensington Dollshouse Christmas Festival

This morning I am off to the Kensington dollshouse festival with my Aunt and my niece thats 3 generations of dollshouse enthusiasts in one family. I am hoping to top up on supplies and treat myself to a little mini something as I have been working so hard. Well I think I have and thats what counts.Meanwhile here's what I have been busy with.

Too Many Cooks - No You Can Never Have Enough!

Today my 18 year old son returned with the ingredients to make his dinner to say I was surprised is an understatement. He went straight to his father for advice. I could hear them cooking away so, I offered some help. Both agreed they were happy to carry on and did not need any help. Well is that because they wanted me to relax and enjoy some peace or was it because the smoke alarm usually signals that dinners ready when I'm cooking? LOL

I hope they continue to cook so that I can have more time doing what I love. I have been really busy of late here's what I have been upto.

It Just Keeps Raining

What better excuse for making minis I cannot go out its raining. Although my partner and I decided to drive into Central London to have a look in the Burlington Arcade - a beautiful covered arcade built circa 19th century- and then to walk along The Thames. Lets just say it poured with rain and our plans were curtailed. However we did treat ourselves to a small box of Laduree macaroons the pralines were a little taste of heaven. Above is a sample of what I have been upto. I just love the Full English Breakfast earrings although all I get in the morning in porridge. Yes I know its good for me but it has the consistency of wallpaper paste.

Danger in the Real World

Yesterday I returned to my old job as a volunteer to go on a trip with the children, it was great but it also reminded me of why I gave up in the first place. By the end of the day I was exhausted. Ah yeah and I nearly got knocked down by a mop head in central London while trying to stop the traffic to allow 20 children to cross.

Today luckily I am back to the relatively safe domain of dollshouse miniatures. Yes I know but a few burns from the oven, the odd nick from the scalpel and glueing one's fingers together or to another item with super glue is nothing compared to the dangers of safe guarding children on the underground and walking in central London.

I have been really busy preparing for a mini Christmas. As yet most items have not been put into displays and photographed.

Ready for Winter

I have just moved my work table away from the French doors which lead into the garden as, the draft is too much to bear. My table is now right infront of the radiator. Thats as near as I get to hibernating. I can just about ranch out and put my feet on the radiator - shear Heaven. Although it is my fingers that really get cold while I am sculpting I have tried gloves but to no avail (only joking). Unfortunately I can no longer stare into the garden in a dream like state for hours so, hopefully I should get some work done.

Enough of my rambling here's what I have been working on.
