Idle Days

The summer holidays are nearly over and I had such great plans. I was going to spend weeks sculpting getting ready for Christmas but, in truth I have made relatively nothing. The sunshine bedazzled me and lead me astray. Well I have just one week left so, I will try to resist the urge to do anything but sculpt.
I should be making more jars of preserves like this and some Halloween bits.

Pickles, Pickles and More Pickles

Preparing for the long dark winter months pickling fresh vegetables to get us through until the warm spring when fresh vegetables will be available again. Nowadays I would not have a clue as what to do. However, as a child I use to help my grandfather plait onions and store potatoes for the winter . While my grandmother pickled beetroots and made tomato and sultana chutney.

Now that I have finally removed all the sticky scenic water from my fingers and scrubbed most of the dye off I can list a photo of what I have been upto for the last couple of days. Oh yes at this point I will mention that I have had a red finger for two days. Thankfully no-one commented. I am not sure whether pickling 12th scale or for real is any less messy.

Real Life Verses Miniature

What a week I have had, I need to replace some of the old sash windows in my dilapidated home. Its going to cost in excess of £1000 if only they were miniature windows I could pop out and buy a sheet of acrylic perspex and have the job done in a jiffy.

I have made a beautiful Christmas pud which cheers me as it reminds me of all the Christmas preparations which, I enjoy more than the actual day. I can just taste the rich thick brandy sauce.

Finally I have got something to show! I have been making for days now yet, I only have bits and pieces. Today I have been fiddling with Halloween decals, fiddling being the operative. The writing is screwed its all back to front as, last time I had to reverse it for Rub off decals and just went ahead and reversed it for waterside decals. A big mistake! Luckily only 2 of the designs contained writing.

Scared Witless

I have just returned from York a Historic city with relics from the Roman, Viking and Medieval times. I had a fantabulous time I screamed so much in The York Dungeon attraction I thought I would wet myself.

Today I find myself sitting at home nursing an annoying rather than too painful toothache although, after I finish this post I will rummage in the my dilapidated old shoe box for a pain killer.

On a brighter note I have been busy getting ready for my favourite seasons Halloween and Christmas. I had one disaster with the mincement all the currants sunk to the bottom of the jars so, I had to do the batch again. My problem is I never write down the recipes and then a year later cannot remember the correct consistency. I have not got anything ready to photograph yet but, I did have time to put this dainty little piece together.
