Bookworm Suffers Mini Madness

Today, I hot footed it to the book store to collect the third book in "The Sword of Stone" seriels by G Martin. Only to be seriously disappointed when I was confronted with the knowledge that in my eagerness to acquire the third I ordered the fourth book by mistake. Well I have now definitely ordered the third - it will be with me Thursday- Now I just have to stop myself peeking at the fourth book and ruining the story. If I had a brain I'd be dangerous!

Here's what I have been working on this weekend its one of my last Halloween items. In a couple of weeks I will start listing Christmas items.

Mini Time

Another working week done now, I have 3 glorious days to make minis until my hearts content. Then its only 4 weeks until half-term, the real reason I work in a school. Only a few more Halloween specials and then I can concentrate on Christmas. This is what I have been up to so far.

Halloween Mad

I had great fun sculpting this little item I just love the skeleton gingerbread men. Well, I was having fun until I cut my finger on my pasta machine. It was making a funny noise so, I cleaned the underneath with a wet wipe. Then I ran my finger along the inside a big mistake, those sides are really sharp. I seem to learn all lessons the hard way.

Teeth Who Needs Them?

I am so fed up with my teeth it started with toothache in August PAIN. Dentist on holiday until September PAIN. Temporary crown - fell out PAIN. Just to add insult to injury I thought I may be addicted to PAIN killers . New temporary crown PAIN. New shiny crown bl**dy thing is too high I cannot bite properly so, its another trip to the Dentist's. I just want to scream. Oh well at least there is no Pain just cannot chew my food.

Its lucky I am such an easy going person otherwise I may have pulled the offending tooth out by now although, I must admit after hearing the cost of a crown I was tempted to see if an extraction was cheaper. When I told my work colleagues the cost of a crown they all thought I meant the type a king/Queen would wear on their heads. Do I look like someone who would wear a crown?LOL......

Enough of this mad woman ranting this is what I have been working on.

Pitter Patter Raindrops I'm Wet Through

Here in North London it has been raining almost solidly since 3.15pm - its now 5.30pm. I returned home soaked to the skin. My Pac-a-mac may have impressed the year 6 children at break time but, it failed miserably to keep me dry. No thats not entirely true only my legs were soaked. Where's your umbrella you may ask well, that broke the first time I used it during the holidays. As it only cost £4.99 and I didn;t keep the receipt I didn't have the nerve to take it back. God only knows what state my son will return in. He does not own a brolly and would not be seen dead in a Pac-a-mac. Like his mum it would not cross his mind to take shelter.....

These little Jack-a-Lanterns remind me of being wrapped up warm sitting by an open fire reading by candle light with a steaming cup of tea.

Juggling Real Life With A Miniature Life

I have ownly been back at work for 5 days and I am feeling the strain already. When I was on holiday did I sculpt did I heck. No I lay in the sun, read books, daydreamed or complained that I had lost my creative mojo. No sooner am I back at work my creative mojo returns with a vengence leaving me frustrated as I am too tired to sculpt. Everything goes wrong when I am tired its as though I have lost my talent.

Here's another example of some of my Halloween delights.

September Slips In

I turned by back for a few minutes and its September already. I am now back at work fortunately, we had a two day week to ease us back in. Well I was exhausted and in bed that night at 8.30pm. So I have been flirting with the idea of handing in my notice as I suppose we all do from time to time.

In between daydreaming about giving up work I have been working on Halloween items. For some of our Pagan friends Halloween is their New Year. A time when the earth goes to sleep in the long dark winter months to awaken with the first signs of life in Spring. Here's what I have been working on.
