Why Do I Bother

Day started well, thought I would wash the sitting room’s curtains. As the room needed a refresh and to be honest I could not remember the last time I washed them. It was a lovely warm morning they would be sure to dry.

Managed to safely get the curtains down and remove the hooks. But this act introduced me to the detritus of human life that was busily developing into a new eco-system between the curtain rail and ceiling. As much as I tried to ignore the cobwebs and strings of dust. It was no good I had to get the hoover out.

I rammed the curtains into the washing machine and forced the door shut without a thought that maybe, I should wash them one at a time. Hoovered the curtain rail and ceiling. Only to realise the whole ceiling needed hoovering. Unfortunately this madness spread to all the ground floor ceilings.

Huffing and puffing and covered in dust with bruised shins (up and down the ladder) I attempted to hang the curtains on the clothe's line to dry. All good lots of space after the first was hung. Just put the second curtain on the line and it...... snapped. Depositing clean curtains on the lawn.

After the internal screaming, rant of expletives and return to serenity I noted firstly, I had been Mis-sold said washing line, it was supposed to have a steel core;  secondly the  disaster was not so bad, lawn dry curtains not muddy. What to do now? Light bulb moment “Let’s tie the snapped ends together.”It is enough to say after much toing  and froing it did not work and curtains were back on the lawn.

Now had to go and purchase a new washing line but, what to do meanwhile?

On my return clutching my brand new steel cored clothe's line I decided to re-wash one of the curtains as packing the machine so tightly had not been One of my best ideas for the day. With new clothe's line in place and now two clean curtains hanging merrily on it. I could finally start crafting.

It would seem the moral of this short story is “For goodness sake do as little as possible housework and leave more time for crafting!”

After my somewhat stressful morning I managed to get these finished and listed.

Halloween

Goodness where has the year gone? What with my mother on the verge of being diagnosed with Parkinson's Dementia, my going into the perimenopause (I never knew it was possible to be so cross and irrational) and the upheaval of my husband working abroad and only seeing him six times a year (some might say a blessing). I have not really had alot of time for mini making. That said I am back and trying to sort out my store. So here is a selection of what has emerged from the dollhouse kitchen. Trick or Treat

I have been very busy preparing for a miniature Halloween. I remember when my son was small all the fuss over his Halloween outfit. Well it had to be just right especially when he was over 5 years old. Before that he was happy with the usual black cat, ghost, witch etc.
He would always go Trick or Treating with his bestfriends. We would meet at his friend's house for a Halloween party, the fathers would take the children out while we chatted and drunk wine.
I have to say I miss the spooky party games and scary ghost stories. My son is now 21 years old and is away at University.
So my Halloween celebration is mainly in 12th scale. Although I still curve a Jack-a-Lantern Pumpkin and have a big bowl of Treats for any little Spooks that come my way. Which here in London UK, I seem to be the only person in my street to do so.

Here are some of my Halloween Treats

I have been busy making little miniatures all week above is a selection of my new creations. The only advantage of having an awful summer here in London in the UK is that I am not tempted away from my work by the sunshine. However, I have been watching all of our sports people competing in the Olympics and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

I have been working really hard mini making over the last couple of days and getting quite tired. Yesterday I went to take some miniatures out of the oven as they had been in for 20 minutes. I opened the oven and it was empty. What! I thought surely no one could have stolen my minis. I looked up and they were still sitting on the worktop. Earlier I had checked the temperature of the oven and must have forgotten to put them in. LOL
That's when I knew it was time to stop for the day. This is what I have been working on.

Halloween Madness

I just cannot stop myself making Halloween goodies. I love the colours and the sheer fantasy. Yet in reality, if I ever saw a ghost and was aware of it I would probably be so scared I would faint. Here's my latest creation. A 3 tier cake featuring a pumpkin as the bottom tier, a haunted castle night scene with orange icing oozing down as the middle tier and a mummy's face on the top with black oozing icing leading to three skulls perched precariously at the base.
